Will SNAP Be Paid in November and December 2026?

Yes for now. As of November 1, 2026, SNAP funding has not lapsed. Federal law keeps SNAP going through December 11, 2026, so November benefits should come on your state’s usual day. Section 111 of Public Law 119-103 says activities under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, the law behind SNAP, “shall be continued at the rate to maintain program levels” through that date. December 11 is the date to watch.

What about deposits after December 11?

In many states deposits run past the 11th, so this is the open question for December. Section 111(b) also says mandatory payments due around the first of a month, up to 30 days after December 11, “may continue to be made.” The Congressional Research Service reads this as covering required payments for such programs through the beginning of January 2027, and it names SNAP among them. We found no USDA statement on how this would apply to SNAP if funding lapsed, so we do not treat it as a promise.

What happens if funding runs out after December 11?

Congress can avoid that by passing a new stopgap or the full-year Agriculture bill. The Agriculture bill, H.R. 8646, was last listed as received in the Senate on June 8, 2026. If funding did lapse, USDA would decide what comes next, and we do not forecast it.

The closest official guide is USDA’s November 13, 2025 memo. It said the SNAP contingency fund had been restored, but that the money was “not anticipated to be sufficient” for full November 2026 benefits if funding lapsed. It told states to prepare to send reduced benefits quickly if money fell short in any month. That warning was written before the current law, which funds November.

What happened in the 2025 lapse?

USDA reduced the maximum amounts for November 2025, and households did not at first get a full month of benefits. After full funding was signed on November 12, 2025, USDA told states to send full November benefits quickly and to send December files as normal. A post saying SNAP stops this November may be an old story from 2025, so check its date.
